In Depth Understanding

My healing work combines philosophies and practices from Reiki, CranioSacral Therapy, Body-Mind Centering®, and Laban Movement Analysis℠. I work with my clients to assist in relieving stress and emotional imbalances, to aid in injury prevention and recovery, and to promote health, well-being, and optimal functioning. Through individually tailored processes, I engage my clients to bring awareness to different parts of their bodies and minds by helping energy flow from one part to another.

Energy is a fundamental part of our bodies; we eat and break down food to create the energy we need to function in our day-to-day lives. Likewise, in our brains neurons send electrical impulses from one to another enabling us to speak, move, and think. When we feel disconnected from our bodies, our minds, and/or our emotions, energy can become stuck or blocked. This can be overwhelming to us, and may slow down our natural regenerative processes and impact our health and well-being. When energy is flowing, our bodies are able to support themselves in more effective and productive ways. We feel happy, focused, motivated, strong, and energized.

I customize each healing session for my client’s individual needs. To begin a session, I guide clients through a check-in process during which I ask my client how s/he is feeling and how her/his body is feeling. By listening to our bodies we can learn to discover specific needs for any specific moment. Based in the moment-to-moment needs of each client, a session may focus on a particular part of the body, or may revolve around the body as a whole. I use specialized touch techniques to help with client’s needs: For example, some clients may need assisted gross motor movement to help move stagnant energy, while others may require only subtle touch. One client may prefer dialoguing to release unsupportive patterns, while another prefers silence.  I also provide opportunities and space (intellectually, physically, emotionally, and spiritually) for clients to empower themselves. These may include helping a client see that she/he has abilities to make choices and to act upon their choices in their lives, and/or offering personalized exercises such as breathing and visualization that can be done at home.
